Qigong means "cultivation of qi (energy)" and to cultivate means to generate the qi and move it through the body.  Stress, worry, and over-work are common causes of depletion of qi - when you are over-stressed, your energy is drained. The simple movements of qigong free up your qi and do it rather quickly, as the mental and physical work together.  Easy to perform, qigong can be done by anyone regardless of age or condition.  So what does it look like? Some forms of qigong are flowing and soft, some are static (like yoga asanas), and some are more vigorous.

Qigong is an ancient Chinese Taoist system that has three main branches: Spiritual cultivation; Martial training; and Therapeutic qigong (physical and mental well-being). In these classes we will concentrate on the latter to cultivate health and vitality. Classes start with a standing meditation called the Microcosmic Orbit then proceed with qigong exercises suited to the students collectively.
