Liz first stumbled upon yoga by accident, but was immediately hooked. She sees yoga not as a practice, but as a way of life. Practicing mindfulness and awareness throughout each and every day has given her a sense of peace, calm, and joy that she hopes to guide her students toward in their practice. Her journey into yoga has taken her farther than she ever imagined, and she completed her 200 hour training with Lauren Hanna and Joanna Aldrich at Sonic Yoga in New York City.
Formerly a special education teacher, she began implementing short "mindfulness" practices in her classroom. She was amazed at the difference it made for her students, both academically and behaviorally. She co-facilitated a yoga club for elementary and middle school students in Newark for the last two years, and found that she was able to reach students in a way that she had not been able to in the classroom. She completed children's yoga trainings with Neney's Yoginis and Street Yoga. She is currently studying with Jennifer Cohen Harper of Little Flower Yoga in Manhattan to deepen her practice.
Liz is very excited to be teaching kids yoga. With a strong background in the theatrical arts, she aims to bring creative moment to youngsters through stories, songs, and dance. Building a positive self image is important at any age, and Liz hopes to guide her students toward increased self-esteem, positive thinking, and respect for all creatures. The yoga skills they learn at a young age can no doubt be built upon, giving them a firm foundation for the rest of their lives.
